Speeding up a PC has become very popular task today. Indeed we have progressed in hardware a lot and great memory and high speed processors are available in low price, yet the speed or performance still continues to be a real trouble for PC customers. Before coming to the topic to speed you my computer, I would like to share the points that why did a PC become slow? I have mentioned few of the causes below.

Root drive is fragmented-
Too many programs installed in the PC-
Many services are running in the background of the system-
Many security programs are installed –
Temporary data in the PC is huge-

PC is infected-
Too many items are in windows startup-
How to speed up my computer with the followings points.

1. Defragment your computer hard disk regularly.
2. You can also defrag your Windows pagefile and registry.
3. Clean up hard drive disk space being taken up by temporary files, the recycle bin, hibernation and many other similar files and redundant data in your system.

4. Remove startup items and you can also remove startup delay from the windows registry. Use the MSCONFIG utility to disable the items.
5. Raise virtual memory size to run the applications that cannot be loaded by your RAM or main memory.
6. Disable Search indexing service for all local hard drives. Turning off indexing is a simple way to amplify performance.

7. Reduce visual effects in Windows; you can turn them off by going to Performance Options.

8. Microsoft provides Bootvis Windows boot time using a free program use it to boost the PC speed.

9. Repair and clear your registry for broken shortcuts, file path folder option, missing shared DLLs, invalid paths, invalid installer references and many such similar registry entries. .

10. Use spyware remover or anti spyware program, antivirus and make sure windows firewall is set on.
11. For viruses and spyware programs you can use many free online tools if you have some expertise in windows different applications.

12. Disable unnecessary Windows services, settings, and programs that slow down your computer.

13. Windows XP, windows vista and now windows 7 are very rich at different kinds of utilities, use them to tune-up and tweak the windows.

14. Remove your browser’s cookies and all history so far. Remove all other temporary and prefetch files also.

15. Windows folder should be clear out in order to the improve performance.

16. There are many some fonts those usually do not use, such as true type fonts removing them can speed up my computer.

17. If it is possible for you to run DOS program separate in memory this can increase the speed.
18. If the performance gone down recently, use system restore to reverse the setting back.
19. Documents or my documents folder can also be moved to some other drive. Try it and experience the difference.

20. If you are using Windows XP default disk performance monitors can be turned off to increase the overall performance.
21. If you are well versed with windows you may stop or turn off unused ports on your Windows machine.
22. If not on the aforementioned points work for you, you need to upgrade your PC.
